StableLoad FAQ

StableLoad OVERVIEW

The StableLoad dramatically improves the vehicles handling characteristics by "pre-activating" the stabilizing effect designed into the rear springs by keeping them actively under load the way your vehicle factory engineers designed them to operate.

All StableLoads are designed to improve the handling characteristics of your loaded vehicle by “pre-loading” the factory overload spring.

StableLoad Features:

  • Engages and disengages in seconds*
  • Legendary Lifetime Warranty includes coverage for the vehicle leaf springs
  • Quick no-drill installation**
  • Dramatically improves safety, handling and sway reduction
  • Significantly reduces side to side sway and body roll
  • Works great with airbags lowering airbag overload air pressure
  • Angled design to maximize spring contact surface
  • Anti-rotation key tabs
  • Kit includes four StableLoads (outfits one complete vehicle)

* Applies only to the StableLoad Quick Disconnect (Lower Overload).
** Does not apply to the StableLoad Quick Disconnect (Lower Overload) A7311 (WITH DRILL KIT).

Due to the dramatic improvement in overall handling characteristics from the StableLoad and its extremely low cost,* we recommend any suspension enhancement upgrades start with the StableLoad and that the vehicle operator evaluate as to whether any further upgrades are needed as very often the StableLoad suspension enhancement qualities are found to be more than enough improvement and no further costly suspension equipment may be required.**

* When compared to other suspension upgrade products, the StableLoad costs up to 50% less.
** Further upgrading or product additions for vehicle suspension is the responsibility and made solely at the discretion of the vehicle owner/operator.

StableLoads on Vehicles with Aftermarket Airbag Overloads

Your vehicle factory suspension was designed by the vehicle engineers to carry the payload on the leaf spring suspension. Overloads such as airbags can help a vehicle that is towing or carrying a heavy payload by keeping the vehicle level. Leveling improves braking by shifting more weight onto the front wheels due to a forward shift in the center of gravity and front alignment stays closer to factory specification as again the vehicle is closer to a stock level stance.

The downsides to airbag overloads is that they accomplish all this by lifting the weight off the factory-engineered spring suspension. Your vehicle engineers designed the weight to be carried over the progressive 4' rear leaf springs. On any heavy towing or hauling set up, to level the vehicle with airbags means you have to take a majority of the weight off the factory leaf spring suspension and are now carrying that weight on an area roughly equivalent to the size of a two footballs. This is why you can actually experience a considerable increase in unsafe handling such as sway, porpoising (bucking) and body roll even though the vehicle is now closer to level with the airbags engaged.

As stated above, the StableLoad dramatically improves vehicle handling characteristics by "pre-activating" the stabilizing affect designed into the rear springs by keeping the springs actively under load the way your vehicle factory engineers designed them to operate. The StableLoad accomplishes this and functions equally as well when used with or without airbag overloads. For vehicles that do not yet have airbag overloads, we recommend starting with the StableLoad prior to investing in airbags.

StableLoad Quick Disconnect (Lower Overload) OVERVIEW

StableLoad Quick Disconnect (Lower Overload) Engaged

The StableLoad Quick Disconnect (patent pending) is our number one recommended most effective and versatile Stableload. This Stableload design is specifically engineered for the extremely robust lower overload springs. The lower overload springs are generally over 30% stronger than upper overload springs making this Stableload design the most effective. This Stableload design offers astounding improvement in safety and vehicle handling and is accomplished by putting the robust lower overload to work sooner dramatically stabilizing the vehicles suspension making the vehicle's passengers and load significantly safer. All Stableload kits work equally well with or without aftermarket airbags overloads.

The Quick disconnect models for the lower overload spring incorporate a unique design that allows the StableLoad to quickly engage or disengage your lower overloads, enabling you and your passengers to ride in safety and comfort when towing or hauling and to quickly return to the original ride in just seconds when not towing or hauling. This is accomplished by attaching each of the StableLoads (four per kit) onto each overload end (front and rear passenger side, front and rear driver side). The Quick Disconnect StableLoad Series is designed with a tapered wedge mounted to a hinge mechanism that allows the StableLoad to be hinged in or out of engagement in seconds using a common 3/8" ratchet extension and ratchet. Each precision crafted Stableload kit carries our legendary lifetime warranty and is proudly made in the USA.

We've driven about 2,400 miles and I have to tell you the Quick Disconnect StableLoads have proven to be our best truck modification!  Even with as heavy as our camper is, it's easy to forget I have such a heavy load sitting in the back or my truck.  We've spent the last couple of days going in and out of Key West with narrow streets, heavy traffic and crowded with people and it really is surprising how well it handles in such tight quarters of that city.  So, I can honestly tell you, I am sold on the Quick Disconnect StableLoads!  For such an inexpensive investment, it's amazing, not only what it does for the truck but for the ease of driving. (1)A7310 StableLoad is a NO DRILL APPLICATION and requires factory predrilled .5" diameter holes in lower overload spring. The A7310 Quick Disconnect StableLoad is designed for vehicles that have a lower overload leaf suspension with a hole near each end of the lower overload spring. The lower overload will for the most part be shorter, thicker and will generally have separation from the rest of the spring pack. In most cases, there will be a plastic disk covering the hole in question. Click here for illustration.

(2)A7311 (WITH DRILL KIT) will fit any passenger or commercial vehicle, Van, SUV, Truck, RV etc. with rear leaf springs and lower overload spring. The lower overload leaf can be identified by being on the very bottom of the spring pack, being thicker than the rest of the leaf springs in the spring pack and generally speaking having a gap between the lower overload leaf spring and the upper leaf spring pack.
-Drilling four 3/8 holes required. Specially treated drill bits and detailed drilling instructions are included.
-Average drill time is 30-40 minutes for complete installation
-Many factory overload springs come predrilled with 1/2" holes. Therefore drilling holes in the overload springs in the same factory locations found on vehicles with predrilled holes will have no affect on your springs integrity or operation. The drilled springs (when drilled in accordance with the Torklift International drilling specifications) and the integrity of the springs once drilled are covered under the lifetime Torklift International warranty.

(3)The A7200 is a NO DRILL APPLICATION and must have factory installed upper overload.
-Will not work in conjunction with Supersprings
-Due to factory overload engagement design, some applications have progressive engagement, where rear springs will contact first.
-Drilling of rubber pad on some older Dodge applications may be required. Depending on the vehicle model, suspension package and condition, actual distance between the StableLoad and vehicle frame overload contact bracket may vary. In some rare instances, when the vehicle is not carrying a load the StableLoad may come into contact on occasion due to rough road conditions and other anomalies.

(4) On Quick Disconnect StableLoad (part#'s A7310/A7311) Due to wear and tear after time, some vehicles leaf springs may have minimal clearance with the lower overload for StableLoad engagement / disengagement when the vehicle is unloaded. In order for the StableLoad to engage and disengage with minimal effort, a minimum gap of 1/8" is required between the lower overload and the spring pack.

(5) There is no fit for the 3500 Cab and Chassis.
