***IMPORTANT NOTICE:
While EcoHitch®️ trailer hitches are built with high-strength materials and tested for exceptional weight ratings, your vehicle’s factory towing capacities are the ultimate limit. Always refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual to determine its maximum towing and tongue weight ratings. No aftermarket hitch or accessory can increase your vehicle’s factory-rated towing capacities.
Using hauling accessories like extensions, cargo trays, bike racks, or other accessories that extend the load out from the trailer hitch, will significantly reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch system.
To estimate how your setup will affect tongue weight, we recommend using our Maximum Hitch Weight (Tongue Weight) Estimator before hauling your payload (cargo trays, bike racks, etc).
Disclaimer: It is the user’s responsibility to ensure safe towing practices and to confirm that all loads fall within the limits of the lowest-rated component in the towing system. Torklift is not liable for any damage or injury resulting from the misuse or overloading of towing/hauling equipment.

What is the receiver size on the EcoHitch for the 2012-2016 Subaru Impreza Hatchback?
The EcoHitch receiver size for the 2012-2016 Subaru Impreza Hatchback is a 2-inch receiver, which is the world's only 2-inch receiver for this vehicle and allows you to use all your existing hitch accessories without extra adapters. This 2-inch format matches the most common hitch accessory size for bike racks, cargo trays, and towing equipment, which is why many Impreza Hatchback owners prioritize a true 2-inch receiver. The receiver interface is developed for direct accessory compatibility so you can use existing hitch accessories without added adapter hardware.
What are the weight ratings for this trailer hitch?
The EcoHitch weight ratings for the 2012-2016 Subaru Impreza Hatchback are 3,500 pounds towing capacity and 525 pounds tongue weight at the trailer ball. Use our Maximum Hitch Weight (Tongue Weight) Estimator to verify allowable load and ensure you are within safe limits.
Is the hitch visible when not in use?
No, the Invisi EcoHitch is not visible when not in use because it is completely concealed behind the factory knockout panel, with only the receiver visible during use to maintain your vehicle's sleek appearance. This concealment approach aligns with owner preference for a hidden hitch that preserves rear styling during daily driving while keeping the receiver accessible when towing or carrying accessories. Fitment and packaging are confirmed for the 2012-2016 Impreza Hatchback so the hitch remains concealed as described when installed per instructions.
Does installation require drilling into my vehicle?
No, installation does not require drilling into your vehicle because the EcoHitch features 100% bolt-on installation with no drilling required and meets national SAE J684 towing safety standards. This no-drill design supports customers who want a secure receiver hitch installation while meeting the stated towing safety standard for this application. Application development confirms the hitch uses the intended mounting points so it installs as designed when installed per instructions.
Can this hitch handle E-bikes?
Yes, this hitch can handle E-bikes because the EcoHitch is E-bike rated with a 525-pound tongue weight capacity, designed to handle the extra weight of E-bikes without requiring additional straps. This rating supports heavier bike rack loads and matches common use for modern E-Bike transport on a hitch-mounted bike rack. Use our Maximum Hitch Weight (Tongue Weight) Estimator to verify allowable load and ensure you are within safe limits.
What is included in the EcoHitch kit?
The EcoHitch kit ships complete with all necessary bolt and accessory kits for installation, providing the required hardware for the bolt-on install as specified. This complete kit approach supports customers who want a straightforward installation process without sourcing additional fasteners or components separately. The included bolt and accessory kits are matched to the hitch installation requirements described.
Does this hitch interfere with my vehicle's automatic hatch?
No, this hitch does not interfere with your vehicle's automatic hatch because the EcoHitch does not interfere with auto-latching and unlatching hatches on vehicles that include this feature. Preserving normal hatch operation is a common customer expectation when adding a concealed trailer hitch, and this integration supports day-to-day convenience while adding towing and hitch accessory capability. Hitch packaging is developed to maintain the stated hatch function when installed per instructions.
What warranty does the EcoHitch come with?
The EcoHitch comes with a Legendary Lifetime Warranty and is proudly made in the USA, providing long-term coverage and support aligned with the hitch’s design and manufacturing controls. Legendary Lifetime Warranty coverage is included with the EcoHitch as stated, giving Impreza Hatchback owners warranty-backed confidence for towing and accessory use over the long term.

took it to my mechanic to have installed
Having the receiver hidden behind the bumper is the main reason I opted for this hitch. The extra ground clearance is a big plus, and the hitch is basically invisible when not in use, which looks better than having a hitch hanging below the bumper.
However, there are some practical concerns that I didn't quite anticipate. The main one is that receiver is essentially *inside* the bumper fascia, which wraps around the bottom of the hitch and makes accessing the hitch pin hole challenging. If I had it to do over again I may have opted for the 1.25" because that may make it possible to fish the hitch pin through the rear knockout, with the 2" there is not much clearance there - although you can at least reach your finger in there to help guide the pin into the hole as you reach under/behind the bumper with your other hand.
Still, I think the positives of the design outweigh the drawbacks.
