*WARNING* Your vehicle may have a lower tow rating than this trailer hitch. If your vehicle’s tow rating is less than the rated towing capacity on your Torklift Central trailer hitch, your trailer hitch capacity is limited to your vehicle’s factory rated towing capacity.
***IMPORTANT NOTICE:
While EcoHitch®️ trailer hitches are built with high-strength materials and tested for exceptional weight ratings, your vehicle’s factory towing capacities are the ultimate limit. Always refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual to determine its maximum towing and tongue weight ratings. No aftermarket hitch or accessory can increase your vehicle’s factory-rated towing capacities.
Using hauling accessories like extensions, cargo trays, bike racks, or other accessories that extend the load out from the trailer hitch, will significantly reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch system.
To estimate how your setup will affect tongue weight, we recommend using our Maximum Hitch Weight (Tongue Weight) Estimator before hauling your payload (cargo trays, bike racks, etc).
Disclaimer:It is the user’s responsibility to ensure safe towing practices and to confirm that all loads fall within the limits of the lowest-rated component in the towing system. Torklift is not liable for any damage or injury resulting from the misuse or overloading of towing/hauling equipment.

Can you put a trailer hitch on a 2011–2015 Chevy Volt?
Yes, the EcoHitch is specifically designed for 2011–2015 Chevy Volt models with a 100% bolt-on installation that requires no drilling, delivering a vehicle-specific trailer hitch option that matches these model years. The mounting strategy is engineered around the Volt’s existing attachment points so the hitch installs as a true bolt-on system, which is a key requirement we hear from Volt owners who want a clean solution without drilling into the vehicle.
What is the towing capacity of the EcoHitch for the Chevy Volt?
The EcoHitch® towing capacity for the Chevy Volt is rated for 2,000 pounds towing capacity and 300 pounds tongue weight at the trailer ball. Use our Maximum Hitch Weight (Tongue Weight) Estimator to verify allowable load and ensure you are within safe limits.
What size receiver does the EcoHitch have?
The EcoHitch features a 2-inch receiver, allowing you to use all your existing hitch accessories without needing extra adapters, so common bike racks, cargo trays, and towing accessories can fit the receiver size directly. That 2-inch receiver format is selected to keep accessory fit straightforward and to support a stable, standard interface for the hitch accessories many Chevy Volt owners already have.
Can I use the EcoHitch for a bike rack on my Chevy Volt?
Yes, the EcoHitch functions as a versatile combo rack and tow hitch for the Chevy Volt, supporting bike racks, cargo trays, and towing without requiring additional accessories when you want to switch between hauling and towing needs. This combo approach is driven by how owners actually use a Volt hitch in real life, where one receiver is expected to handle a rack one day and a light towing setup the next.
Will the EcoHitch interfere with my Volt's hatchback?
No, the EcoHitch does not interfere with auto-latching and unlatching hatches on vehicles that include this feature, so your Volt’s hatchback function remains consistent while the hitch is installed. The hitch layout is designed to maintain clearance and operating space at the rear so the hatch’s normal latching and unlatching behavior is not disrupted.
Is the EcoHitch visible when installed?
The Invisi EcoHitch is completely concealed behind the license plate, with only the receiver visible, maintaining your Volt's sleek appearance while still providing a usable hitch point when you need it. This concealed approach is a direct response to owners who want a hitch that stays out of sight during everyday driving and only presents the receiver at the point of use.
What should I check before towing with my Chevy Volt?
Before towing with your Chevy Volt, always refer to your vehicle's owner's manual to determine its maximum factory towing and tongue weight ratings, as no aftermarket hitch can increase these limits for safe towing operation. Use our Maximum Hitch Weight (Tongue Weight) Estimator to verify allowable load and ensure you are within safe limits.
Does the EcoHitch come with everything needed for installation?
Yes, the EcoHitch kit ships complete with all necessary bolt and accessory kits for installation, so the required hardware for the hitch install is included as part of the package. This complete kit approach supports a controlled install process with the correct fasteners and components matched to the EcoHitch design for the 2011–2015 Chevy Volt.
What warranty does the EcoHitch include?
The EcoHitch warranty includes a Legendary Lifetime Warranty and the EcoHitch is proudly made in the U.S.A., providing long-term coverage that matches the warranty statement for this product. That warranty and U.S.A. manufacturing are part of the EcoHitch offering exactly as specified for this application and are included with the product as stated.
Customer Reviews
One year later and still going strong. I've towed and hauled all sorts of stuff behind this car and although the mileage is awful mid 20s with two bikes the hitch works amazing and I love that you don't see it when you're not using it. The looks you get launching a boat with a volt are priceless.
My license plate bracket was missing. they found it after I contacted customer support and they shipped it out that evening.
So all in all 2 weeks to get the order to me. (life is what it is people)
The hardest step for me was removing the bumper cover around the tail lamps.
(I admit to breaking a horizontal tab on each side of the cover, while removing it)
Technical note, my 2011 does not have the extra harness faster that must be removed.
I watched the etrailer installation video and that was helpful on a few points.
My car has the backup camera. This means that I had additional wire harnesses coming down the center behind my license plate mount.
I addressed this by using zip tie straps to re-align the harnesses and drilling a couple of holes into the impact bar on the bumper cover to attach to.
See my picture for my routing details.
I also installed safety cables similar as to what is shown in the e trailer installation video.
I ordered the 10 inch version and they successfully come up over the top from behind the hitch bar so that if they ever get used in an emergency, my rear cover will avoid as much damage as possible.
I found that drilling the pilot holes for the receiver access area was best done off the car to avoid any unseen wire harnesses.
I am happy with the end result and it looks good.
the stock license plate lights barely light up my rear plate, so I am off to engineer a different solution for my car's plate. What is included works sufficiently for a plug and play option as long as you do not have a back up camera. My back up camera is what remains in the way...
I plan to use this to haul my 4x8 folding trailer while taking kiddos to and from college.
This setup cost less than one round trip worth of fuel for my 09 suburban, with travel to the university.
it has been a year and no issues. I replaced the included License Plate kit with a 12 inch Stainless Steal Piano hinge and a cheap plastic License plate mounting bracket. this setup clears the Backup Camera and looks very much like it was OEM. I used some T-Nuts with the prongs to attach the Hinge to the Bumper cover. drilled a hole first and T-Nut went in from behind the cover to cinch it to the plastic. anyway no complaints from me and it has been a great success. Cheers!!
