What is the 48 hour Drop Ship Program?

We are set up to build products in large runs for stocking orders made by distributors, but sometimes you have a customer that can’t wait. That’s where the 48 hour Drop Ship Program comes into play.

How Does the Drop Ship Program Work?

1. Business Day One: Place your order by 11 a.m. so the build for your products starts the following business day
2. Business Day Two and Three: Your parts have 48 hours (Two business days) to go from raw parts to powder coat to be ready to be shipped. Hot off the assembly line!
3. Business Day Four: Your parts are sitting on our dock ready to ship

What does it cost?

This fee is minimal when it comes to getting your Torklift products that much sooner and in a rush! If you have unforeseen circumstance and you suddenly need Torklift products and can’t pass up the opportunity - contact your distributor and let them know you need to place a drop ship through Torklift. The fee will vary by distributor.

With Torklift’s products at a record demand, our dedicated Torklift Drop Ship team is dedicated and ready at a moment’s notice to manufacture the parts you need from raw materials and pack into our specially designed boxes – then shipping the products you order to where you need them. We have a team just for focuses on emergency orders from the Drop Ship Program and making sure they get to you as soon as possible.

When we met Brian Brawdy, he didn’t know his truck bed was cracked in multiple places and that it would cost thousands of dollars to fix. Torklift first met RV enthusiast Brian Brawdy in 2009. At the time of meeting him, he was sponsored by an alternate brand of tie downs that mounts to the truck bed instead of the truck frame. This company promotes itself as using frame-mounted systems when they don’t attach to the truck’s frame at all.

Where the bed-mounted system went wrong

After getting to know Brian a little better and what kind of tie down system he was using, Torklift wanted to check it out. Our team crawled underneath his truck, and we were alarmed at what we saw. Upon inspecting Brian’s truck, we revealed a mass amount of damage to the bed. When Torklift discovered what was causing the damage, it all made sense. He had a bed-mounted tie down system for his truck camper. Due to the lack of support, the bed of his truck was too stressed and had massive cracks underneath. This was caused by the bed-mounted system pulling and yanking the truck bed sheet metal.

What you can do to protect yourself

There are steps you can take to inspect your vehicle for damage linked to bed-mounted tie downs:

1. look under your truck bed for long cracks spanning anywhere from the cab to the tailgate
2. Look for a sagging bumper and rust at rear bed-mounted tie down locations
3. Inspecting the paint for chips, bent tie downs, body rust and gouges at the mounting location of your front bed-mounted tie downs also indicate damage

If you notice any of these issues with your bed-mounted tie downs that claim to be frame-mounted, contact us immediately. We would be happy to look at pictures of your damage and help you determine if your truck is still safe for hauling your truck camper. So why do bed-mounted tie downs cause this damage?

Many bed-mounted tie down systems are falsely advertised as “direct-to-frame” and use anchors plates in the rear of the truck bed to connect anchors to both sides of the truck bumper. The support from the specific type of tie down does not make contact with the frame of the vehicle, leaving you with a very unstable support. When you use a bed-mounted system not only is what you are hauling at risk, but the vehicle as well. Just like Brian Brawdy’s truck, you risk having stress marks and cracks in the bed and can actually lose the whole bed itself. Damage within the truck bed is common while using bed-mounted tie downs. Often, anchor points can be pulled out - bending the anchors directly into the truck body, as well as damaging the vehicle’s paint.

What Precautions Can You Take to Avoid Damage to Your Vehicle?

The first and most important step is using proper tie downs. Torklift offers two types of tie downs that truly mount to the foundation of the vehicle: its frame. Attaching directly to the frame eliminates the risk of damage to your vehicle and will provide 100% support for having your camper mounted safely.

Option one: Steel 
One of the tie down systems Torklift designed is the True Frame-Mounted Steel Tie Down.

• This tie down secures the truck to the camper using four independent tie down points directly to the frame. 98% of applications don’t require drilling.
• Has no loss of ground clearance and improved stability and handling of the vehicle while towing

Option two: Military Grade Aluminum 
The other system Torklift designed are the Talon Camper Tie Downs

Brian no longer has to question whether his truck is being damaged while doing what he loves the most.

Many people are pulling their truck campers or trailer out of storage or buying new ones in preparation for some summer camping fun.

Of course there are basic things to do to prep, such as de-winterizing, cleaning everything out, getting groceries, etc. But one thing that many people forget over the long winter months is how much they hated the feeling of instability or sway while they were on their way to the campgrounds.

Now, we can hear you saying, "Well, what about sway bar, shocks or airbags?" You could always purchase those products, because the StableLoad is designed to work in conjunction with all of them. But what not many people know is how airbags affect your suspension. To put it succinctly: airbags for suspension take your four-point suspension system, turn it into a two point suspension system which can potentially lead to leaf spring damage and further feelings of instability while towing or hauling. It's always wonderful welcoming a new family member into the world and adding a new product to the GlowStep family is no different! We would like to introduce you to the Stow N' Go, truck camper steps that are manufacture to help you avoid storing steps inside you RV and eliminate the hassle of detaching steps during travel.

The Stow N' Go is sold in three to six steps and features the ability to add or remove steps should you change or upgrade to a new truck camper. It also comes standard with the All Terrain Landing Gear which gives you an unmatched stability; connecting the camper to the ground. Have you ever made something or started a project and saw that as you were working on it or once it was finished, it could be used for so much more than what you intended? Doesn't it feel delightful and rewarding? Recently we ran into this same scenario with one of our products.

Originally designed to prevent camper wobble when storing a camper, we thought that the Torklift International FastGun Wobble Stopper only had certain purposes: prevent camper movement by adding support and connecting between the front camper jack legs and the camper body and prevent theft of a camper by locking the FastGun Wobble Stopper while you're gone.

Turns out, there's another purpose to using the FastGun Wobble Stopper to prevent camper sway! Read below to learn how RV.net forum user Anutami, aka Nolan Sturgeon, uses his Wobble Stoppers:

"The only thing on the rear bike rack is the rocking movement as you hit bumps on the road. This is how I resolved the rack from bouncing up and down on all the potholes. I use my Torklift [FastGun] Wobble Stopper. Torklift may have a new arena to sell their products as this virtually eliminates the bike rack from any movement while driving." – Anutami, Rv.net

Wow! That is truly a unique way to use a part that was intended for truck camping. With out of the box and ingenious thinking, Nolan was able to retrofit the FastGun Wobble Stopper camper stabilizer bars to stabilize his bike rack. We reached out to him for more information and in an email to our Content Coordinator, Nolan states that:

"Although I have not yet installed the [FastGun] Wobble Stoppers yet I have found a very good use for one of them.  One problem with rear bike racks is the movement that happens to them while traveling causing the bikes to slap against one another.  I found using a [FastGun] Wobble Stopper connected to my rear hitch virtually eliminates the bike rack from moving around while traveling all the miles that we do." – Nolan

Not many people know it, but we have released a SuperHitch for the Ford Excursion. While our other Ford SuperHitches are more popular, there is a rising demand for a better hitch for the Excursion. Torklift rose to the occasion and created an Excursion hitch which is part of the SuperHitch Outlaw series. Recently, Ford-Trucks Forum user ExxWhy shared his experience installing the SuperHitch on his 2000 Ford Excursion.

Rated for Excellence
One of the main reasons why ExxWhy purchased the SuperHitch was because his OEM hitch had a low tow rating. He needed something much stronger for towing with an Excursion and here’s what he had to say:

“Torklift recently came out with a version of their SuperHitch 20K receiver for our Excursions. It's substantially beefier than the factory piece and I think for those of you who tow HEAVY stuff, it's a must have. My 2000 [Excursion hitch] was only rated to 1,000 lbs tongue weight and my trailer is a bit over 1,400. The later years with the larger bolts are still only rated to 1,250. This [SuperHitch 20k] is rated for 2,000 lbs with weight distribution, or 1,700 lbs without!” -ExxWhy

With the SuperHitch hitch receiver, you have all the strength you need to allow you to tow at your vehicle’s  weight ratings. It has weight ratings for towing at 20,000 pounds with weight distribution and 17,000 pounds without weight distribution. Also, this 2000 Ford Excursion hitch is completely bolt on so there is no drilling required into the frame of your Excursion. “Bolt up the new 3-piece unit and put all the other pieces back. The tank is a tighter fit to get past the hitch, but otherwise it all works together nicely,” said ExxWhy. More great features of this trailer hitch are that it has a double receiver and has hardened reinforced hitch pin locations to prevent hole elongation known as egging. There’s also an extension for towing available for the SuperHitch called the SuperTruss which gives you extra length for towing if you have an overhang on your truck.

Overall, ExxWhy is happy with his new Ford Excursion hitch replacement, the SuperHitch. Here’s what his final thoughts were on this Ford Excursion Class V hitch:

“The overall fit and finish of the hitch is excellent. No drilling required and the hardware is top quality grade 8 stuff. All in all, I am happy with it so far. I plan to take advantage of the extra [receiver] to adapt a bike rack to hang a couple bikes over the hitch.” -ExxWhy

Continuing in our “rooftop celebrations” of fan mail similar to Gary McNally’s letter to us, we wanted to share another wonderful letter that came to us from Colorado! Instead of going with ladder/drawbridge-style entryway stored-steps that allow mud, water, salt and other debris to get inside the RV and instead of staying with his factory RV steps, using a RV booster step or choosing another aftermarket RV step system, Brian chose to install the GlowStep Revolution:

When an unknown thief attempted to steal one of our customer’s generators, we were excited to know the thief couldn’t get past our Lock and Load generator security tray.

“Somebody tried to steal my Champion Power Equipment 73540i 2000watt portable inverter generator from the Torklift Lock and Load Maximum Security Cargo Tray attached to the front hitch receiver of the truck in the driveway. The culprit never succeeded in stealing the generator but took the five-gallon gas can instead that was only secured to the tray by a ratchet strap.” –John Patterson
