X5008S: How To Install 2025 - 2026 Volvo EX30 EcoHitch® Trailer Hitch

The Volvo EX30 is one of the most forward-thinking compact EVs on the road andn now, with the Torklift EcoHitch, you can equip it with a durable, invisible hitch solution for hauling bikes, cargo trays, or even small trailers.

This guide walks you through how to insall the EcoHitch on your 2025 - 2026 Volvo EX30. Whether you're doing it yourself or working with a shop, here's what to expect.

Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Vehicle

• Open the rear hatch.
• Twist and remove the rubber pads inside the hatch (Figure 1.1).
• In the rear wheel wells, remove the Torx screws, then pop out the inner trim (Figure 1.2).
• Remove the mudflaps and all screws behind and beneath them (Figures 1.3 & 1.4).
• Remove the screws along the bottom edge of the bumper (Figure 1.5).

Tip: Repeat this process on both driver and passenger sides.

Step 2: Remove the Rear Bumper

• Temporarily peel back the weather seal at the lower hatch area.
• Starting at the wheel wells, gently unclip the bumper, working toward the center.
• Disconnect two electrical harnesses on the passenger side (Figure 2.1).
• Set the bumper aside in a safe location.

Step 3: Remove the Rear Crossmember

• Remove the six factory nuts securing the rear crossmember (Figure 3.1).
• Take out the crossmember - it will not be reused.
• Lift the EcoHitch into position over the studs and snug the factory nuts to hold it in place while centering the hitch.

Step 4: Install Frame Supports and Secure the Hitch

• Slide the inner frame support plates into the frame through the slots in the hitch side plates (Figure 4.1).
• Use a bolt fisher to route a 1/2" carriage bolt from the rear frame hole through the support and out the side (Figures 4.2 & 4.3).
• Once threaded, remove the fisher and secure the bolt with a flat washer, split lock washer, and hex nut.
• Repeat this process for the front hole and on the passenger side.
• Attach the support plates to the hitch side plates (Figure 4.4).

Torque Specs:

• Factory nuts (studs): 45 ft-lbs(61 Nm)
• All 1/2" hardware: 64 ft-lbs (88 Nm)

Step 5: Modify the Bumper + Install License Plate Flip Kit

• Using a reciprocating saw, cut a 4" x 8" opening in the bumper fascia centered below the license plate holder (Figure 5.1).
• Install the XA4000 License Plate Flip Kit over the opening (Figure 5.2).
• Use the supplied 1/4" button head screws and nuts to secure the kit.

Step 6: Reinstall the Bumper

• Reconnect the electrical harness.
• Reinstall the bumper using the original hardware.
• Press weather seal back into place.
• Check taillight functionality
